Stalin- Telegram to Mao Zedong January 11, 1949

Stalin I.V. Works. - T. 18. - Tver: Information and

Soyuz Publishing Center, 2006, p. 522.

Continuation and end of the previous telegram

As can be seen from what has been said above, our draft of your response to the Kuomintang proposal is designed to disrupt the peace talks. It is clear that the Kuomintang will not enter into peace negotiations without the mediation of foreign powers, especially without the mediation of the United States. It is also clear that the Kuomintang will not want to negotiate without the participation of Chiang Kai-shek and other war criminals. We therefore hope that the Kuomintang will renounce peace talks under the conditions set by the CCP. The result is that the CCP will agree to peace talks, so it cannot be accused of wanting to continue the civil war. In this case, the Kuomintang will be responsible for the breakdown of peace negotiations. In this way, the peaceful maneuver of the Kuomintang and the United States will be thwarted, and you can continue the victorious war of liberation.

Waiting for an answer.
