Comrades, don't fall for provocations!

At the moment when the Kornilov troops are still several versts from Petrograd, the Miliukovite Palchinsky makes an attempt to close down our newspaper Rabochy and even strangles the newspaper Novaya Zhizn.

At a time when Kornilov, Kaledin and other conspirators, the generals, are still sharpening their knife against the revolution, the Provisional Government frees Guchkov, one of the main leaders of the conspiracy, from arrest.

At a time when all the workers and soldiers are full of indignation against the Cadet Party, Kornilov's friends and his true inspirers, Kerensky is negotiating with the Cadets and calling these conspirators to the ministers, giving them the most important posts on which the lives and deaths of millions of workers, soldiers and peasants.

This is a direct challenge, comrades!

Someone behind Kerensky's back — old acquaintances, the Milyukovites — wants to challenge us to battle today, now, in order to take advantage of the proximity of the Kornilov troops, to shed the blood of the St. Petersburg workers, the Kronstadt and Vyborg sailors.

It is now clear to everyone that the entire plan of Kornilov and the Kornilovites was calculated to summon the workers to the street last Sunday. This plan fell through. Now they want to turn it under the new situation. This will not happen, comrades! Provocateurs will be deceived in their calculations.

The Kornilov conspiracy has by no means been liquidated yet. The conspirators retreated in order to attack the revolution tomorrow with the help of the bourgeoisie. The conspirators pretend to have surrendered on purpose. We will be vigilant, we will be careful, but we will not succumb to provocation, we will not accept the battle when our enemies want it. The policy of an agreement with the bourgeoisie has failed. Kornilov's failure will also be a failure of this policy.

The secret and overt Kornilovites know: now they cannot disperse the army committees, now, after the Kornilov days, the vast majority of the soldiers will inevitably go over to our side, now the policy of the death penalty has failed. And that is why they need to challenge us to battle now, again create the ground for the tale of the "Bolshevik conspiracy" and confuse all the cards.

Comrades! We need to explain this devilish game to all workers and soldiers at all costs. Let us harbor our hatred against our enemies. Life is for us. We will win - the sooner and more surely we will win, the more we keep cool now.

Our party considers any call for immediate action on the street provocative.

No street performances! Continue to organize the workers' militia. Unite the fraternal ranks of workers, soldiers and sailors. Explain the meaning of the events to the soldiers and peasants. Do not fall for provocation! Not a single step without the appeal of our party!
