Comrade Red Army men, commanders and political workers, partisan man, and woman! Working people of the Soviet Union!
On behalf of the Soviet Government and our Bolshevik Party, I greet and congratulate you on the day of the 25th anniversary of the victory of the Great October Socialist Revolution.
A quarter of a century ago the workers and peasants, under the leadership of the Bolshevik Party and the great Lenin, established the power of the Soviets in our country. The peoples of the Soviet Union have traveled a glorious path during this time. In the course of 25 years, our Motherland has become a mighty socialist industrial and collective farm power. The peoples of the Soviet state, having won their freedom and independence, united in an indestructible fraternal community. The Soviet people freed themselves from all oppression and secured a prosperous and cultural life through hard work.
Today, the peoples of our country are celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution in the midst of a fierce struggle against the German fascist invaders and their accomplices in Europe.
At the beginning of this year, during the winter period, the Red Army inflicted serious blows on the Nazi troops. Having beaten off the German attack on Moscow, it took the initiative into her own hands, went over to the offensive and drove the German troops to the west, freeing a number of regions of our country from German slavery. The Red Army has thus shown that, under certain favorable conditions, it can defeat the fascist German troops.
In the summer, however, the situation at the front changed for the worse. Taking advantage of the absence of a second front in Europe, the Germans and their allies gathered all their reserves under the whisk, threw them on our Ukrainian front and broke through it. At the cost of huge losses, the fascist German troops managed to advance in the south and endanger Stalingrad, the Black Sea coast, Grozny, and the approaches to Transcaucasia.
True, the steadfastness and courage of the Red Army frustrated the German plans to bypass Moscow from the east and attack the capital of our country from the rear. The enemy was stopped near Stalingrad. But stopped at Stalingrad and having already laid down tens of thousands of his soldiers and officers there, the enemy throws new divisions into battle, straining his last forces. The struggle on the Soviet-German front is becoming increasingly intense. The fate of the Soviet state, the freedom and independence of our Motherland depend on the outcome of this struggle.
Our Soviet people have withstood the trials that have befallen them and are filled with unshakable faith in victory. The war was a severe test of the strength and durability of the Soviet system. The calculations of the German imperialists for the disintegration of the Soviet state have failed completely. Socialist industry, the collective farm system, the friendship of the peoples of our country, the Soviet state have shown their strength and invincibility. The workers and peasants, the entire intelligentsia of our country, our entire rear, are working honestly and selflessly to satisfy the needs of our front.
The Red Army is bearing the brunt of the war against Nazi Germany and its accomplices. With its selfless struggle against the fascist armies, it has won the love and respect of all the freedom-loving peoples of the world. The fighters and commanders of the Red Army, who had not previously had sufficient military experience, learned to beat the enemy for sure, destroy his manpower and equipment, frustrate enemy plans, and staunchly defend our cities and villages from foreign enslavers. The heroic defenders of Moscow and Tula, Odessa and Sevastopol, Leningrad and Stalingrad showed examples of selfless courage, iron discipline, fortitude, and the ability to win. Our entire Red Army is equal to these heroes. The enemy has already experienced in his own skin the ability of the Red Army to resist. They will still recognize the power of the crushing blows of the Red Army.
There can be no doubt that the German invaders will still rush into new adventures. But the forces of the enemy are already undermined and are at the limit. During war, the Red Army put out of action over 8 million enemy soldiers and officers. Now the Nazi army, diluted with Romanians, Hungarians, Italians, Finns, has become much weaker than in the summer and autumn of 1941.
Comrade Red Army men, commanders and political workers, partisan men, and partisan women!
The defeat of the Nazi army, the cleansing of Soviet land from the Nazi invaders depends on your perseverance and steadfastness, on your military skill and readiness to fulfill your duty to the Motherland!
We can and must cleanse the Soviet land of the Nazi evil spirits.
For this you need:
1)
steadfastly and stubbornly defend the line of our front, do not allow the enemy
to move forward any more, exhaust the enemy with all our might, destroy its
manpower, destroy its equipment;
2) to strengthen in every possible way iron discipline, the strictest order and unity of command in our army, improve the combat skills of the troops and prepare, stubbornly and persistently prepare a crushing blow against the enemy;
3) fan the flames of the nationwide partisan movement behind enemy lines, to destroy the enemy's rear, to exterminate the Nazi bastards.
Comrades!
The enemy has already once experienced the power of the Red Army's blows near Rostov, near Moscow, near Tikhvin. The day is not far off when the enemy will recognize the force of the new blows of the Red Army. Every dog has his day!
Long live the 25th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution!
Long live our Red Army!
Long live our Navy!
Long live our glorious partisans and partisans!
Death to the Nazi invaders!
People's Commissar of Defense I. Stalin
