Stalin after the war 1945–1953 - 200 Myths About Stalin
At the same time, it analyzes several other common myths, formally unrelated to the era in question but constantly used to slander Stalin. That's why we consider debunking them so important.
Myth #167: As soon as the Great Patriotic War ended, Stalin gave the order to prepare for World War III.
Myth No. 168. Stalin declared a “cold war” on the West and fenced himself off behind the “iron curtain.”
Myth #169: Stalin was preparing for an attack on the West, primarily the United States.
A myth that's become extremely widespread in recent years. Many pseudo-historians of the "democracy" persuasion are literally digging their noses into the ground trying to prove it. And in the end, they've created a false impression out of nothing. But what was the reality?
1. Indeed, such an order was given immediately after the end of the Great Patriotic War. The author was told this by his father and his closest friend, Konstantin Mefodievich, a former high-ranking member of Stalin's personal intelligence service. But such an order was not given because Stalin was particularly eager to fight again. After all, half the country lay in ruins. On the contrary, he had no desire for another war. In this regard, the conclusions of the report of the Policy Planning Board of the US State Department, entitled "Summary of International Policy," are very characteristic. The fact that it bears the date November 7, 1947, should not be disconcerting. This conclusion applies to 1945 as well, and even more so to subsequent years. Thus, it was written as follows: "The danger of war is greatly exaggerated by many. The Soviet government does not desire and does not expect war with us in the foreseeable future... Extreme fears about the danger of war stem from an incorrect assessment of Soviet intentions. The Kremlin does not want a new major war and does not expect one... Overall, there is no reason to believe that we will suddenly be drawn into an armed conflict with the USSR."
In this quote, the Genuine Truth coexists with an Outright Lie. Yes, indeed, the Kremlin did not want a new war. That's the absolute truth. But the Kremlin wasn't filled with naive children; it was filled with highly experienced political and state leaders, well-versed in the international situation, armed with powerful intelligence, and having just won a war unprecedented in human history together with their people. That's why, while they didn't want a new war, they were perfectly aware that the West was preparing a new one against the USSR. And that's precisely why Stalin was forced to order preparations for World War III, because, according to intelligence reports, he had learned of the Anglo-Saxon allies' plan to attack the Soviet Union! The attack was scheduled for July 1, 1945! Just 10 years ago, the West declassified this plan for an attack on the Soviet Union by the combined forces of the Anglo-Saxon West, which had a very telling name: "Unthinkable." The Anglo-Saxon rulers were truly planning the unthinkable—to attack the main victor of World War II! It's no coincidence that all the documentation on this matter was kept in the top-secret personal file of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill.
2. Don't confuse Hegel with Bebel, and especially not with Babel. It wasn't Stalin who delivered the infamous Fulton speech that launched the Cold War, but Sir Winston Churchill! March 6, 1946. Why should Stalin be to blame for this?! And it wasn't Stalin who brought down the Iron Curtain with such a bang, but the West. And this, too, is an indisputable fact of history. As, incidentally, is the fact that this is far from the first time this has happened. Even Peter the Great, in a letter to his son, Tsarevich Alexei, pointed out that Europe had lowered an "iron curtain" before Russia. Churchill, naturally, didn't know this, which is why he stole the term "iron curtain" from the Nazis.
A quick comment. Incidentally, he stole more than just this, and not just from the Nazis. In October 1942, when the Nazis were bogged down in the vast expanses of Russia and thus no longer posed a direct threat to England (in terms of organizing an invasion), Churchill shamelessly stole from the "classics of scientifically based banditry" the fundamental principles of his brutal Russophobia and the organization of the fight against Russia. Please take a look.
F. Engels, 1849 – “A European war, a people’s war, is knocking at the door… There can be no talk of German interests, German freedom, German unity, German prosperity when the question is one of freedom or oppression, the happiness or misfortune of all Europe. Here all national questions end; here there is only one question: Do you want to be free or do you want to be under Russia’s heel?”
W. Churchill, October 1942 – “My thoughts are directed, first of all, to Europe as the mother of modern nations and civilization. A terrible catastrophe would ensue if Russian barbarity were to destroy the culture and independence of the ancient European states. Although it is difficult to speak of this now, I believe that the European family of nations can act as a united front as a single whole under the leadership of a European Council. I turn my gaze to the creation of a united Europe.”
Note the astonishing unanimity between seemingly irreconcilable ideological opponents. And we sang the praises of the "founders of scientific communism"! Malicious scoundrels and Russophobes, that's what those "founders" really were! Churchill's position in this regard is more honest—from infancy, he was a staunch enemy of Russia, whatever its name, and especially of the Soviets. He never hid it. And so, if necessary, he was even willing to kiss Hitler, if only to "confront Russian barbarism." In a word—Anglo-Saxon...
3. As for the idea that Stalin was supposedly preparing to attack the West, primarily the United States, that's complete and utter nonsense. Because it wasn't Stalin who planned such a crime, but the Anglo-Saxon allies of the anti-Hitler coalition. And it began as early as the middle of World War II.
In the midst of World War II, Halford Mackinder, director of the London School of Economics, a member of the Committee of 300 in the 1930s and 1940s, and the most influential geopolitician of the Anglo-Saxon West, whose ideas underpin all Western concepts of global domination, penned an article unique in its unprecedented aggressiveness toward the USSR, which was virtually single-handedly waging a mortal struggle against Nazism. On behalf of the Anglo-Saxon West, which had yet to do anything significant to defeat Nazism, Mackinder openly declared: "Our next enemy is the Soviet Union." In essence, the article was nothing less than a geopolitical instruction, exceptionally insidious in its intent, to the entire ruling elite of the Anglo-Saxon West on what to do next and how, since, in his opinion, "the coming struggle must be decisive for world domination, for the ultimate goal is domination over Eurasia. Therefore, the coming inexorable struggle for power over this decisive geopolitical space is the decisive struggle of the modern era."
The leaders of the Anglo-Saxon West—Roosevelt and Churchill—heard these "recommendations" and, in the old-fashioned way, tried to reach an agreement among themselves regarding the third activation of the "drive belt mechanism" in the 20th century, ensuring the transition of the Permanent World War to a "hot state." The intention was based on an attempt to dismember Germany once again. It failed. Having surrounded the entire White House administration and leading US ministries with his agents, the outstanding Soviet illegal intelligence officer Ishak Abdulovich Akhmerov managed to promptly and documentarily notify Stalin of this attempt.
A brief comment. The question of the future division of defeated Germany into occupation zones was discussed in the ruling circles of the United States and Great Britain as early as January-March 1943. That is, almost a year and a half before the opening of a second front in Europe! However, let's be historically accurate. In fact, discussions of Germany's postwar future and the advancement of all sorts of plans for its total physical destruction began as early as 1941. Who in the American establishment hasn't exercised themselves on this topic?! Having yet done nothing to defeat Hitler's Germany, these jackals of Western democracy attempted to carve up the skin of the unkilled Nazi boar, intending to carve up Germany again in order to preemptively provoke the inevitable rabid German nationalist revanchism under the slogans of national and national unification. In paragraph No. 8 of the information message from the British Foreign Secretary A. Eden to Prime Minister W. Churchill on March 28, 1943, obtained by Soviet illegal intelligence (I.A. Akhmerov), about the progress of the Anglo-American negotiations in Washington on the issue of the post-war world order, it was stated:
"When discussing Germany, the President again put forward the proposal for its dismemberment, which, he is inclined to believe, will contribute to ensuring European security... I stated that we are also studying this issue, but in general I agree with the need for Germany's dismemberment, since you yourself have repeatedly expressed your support for it. The President noted that a united Germany has not been in existence for very long, and it is quite possible that tendencies to split into a number of separate states could emerge. Such tendencies, in the President's opinion, should be encouraged." However, at the Yalta Conference of 1945, Stalin completely thwarted all of the West's intentions.
At the same time, I.A. Akhmerov also obtained secret Memorandum No. 121 (August 1943), in which the leaders of the Anglo-Saxon West seriously considered an idea dating back to World War I: turning the remaining might of what was then still Nazi Germany against the USSR and giving it the opportunity to finally defeat the USSR, only to then attack Germany and come to Russia as a "savior-liberator." And this in 1943, when the Soviet army had already broken the back of the Wehrmacht!? In essence, this was a frantic attempt to quickly change the already obvious post-war configuration of Europe. Primarily, this was intended to remove Eastern Europe from the USSR's orbit of influence in order to subsequently establish its dominance there. They were constantly mulling over post-war dominance in Eastern Europe as a prologue to global domination. Without lifting a finger to help the Soviet Union in any way in the extremely bloody struggle against German Nazism, and, in fact, against all the Western scum that had consolidated on a pan-European scale, the Anglo-Saxons pondered their future world domination.
Naturally, nothing came of all this for the simple reason that it couldn't have come to pass by definition. At the Yalta Conference of the three heads of the anti-Hitler coalition, forewarned and therefore well-armed with precise knowledge, Stalin so pressured Roosevelt and Churchill—in essence, he severed their horns—that he ensured the relatively secure existence of the Soviet Union for decades to come! And of Russia to this day. Of course, it wasn't Stalin's fault that Germany was ultimately divided—at the end of the war, when it was already clear that it was time to consider the post-war world order, he had no plans to dismember Germany.
A brief comment. This was confirmed in the memoirs of the distinguished Soviet intelligence officer P.A. Sudoplatov, and it was also directly pointed out by one of Britain's most prominent historians, A. Taylor. After the defeat of Nazism, Stalin planned to recreate a unified, strong, and democratic German state. However, the West deliberately divided Germany—West Germany, represented by the Federal Republic of Germany, was created first. In response, Stalin was forced to create the German Democratic Republic. For the sake of objectivity, I must mention that M.M. Litvinov, an agent of strategic influence for the Anglo-Saxon West, tried to play into the hands of the Soviets. But Meyer Wallach-Finkelstein failed, because it was impossible. However, his notes have been preserved in the Foreign Ministry archives. Even a cursory reading reveals how he dug his nose into the ground to push through plans favorable to the Anglo-Saxons. But Stalin had long known very well the Anglo-Saxon price of Wallach-Finkelstein’s zeal.
For his unprecedented defeat at the end of the war, Roosevelt was shot in the head. Therefore, contrary to his will, his family was not allowed to say goodbye to him and was buried in a carefully sealed zinc coffin. Churchill, meanwhile, authorized the urgent development of Operation Unthinkable, the goal of which was to attack the USSR with joint Anglo-American forces as early as July 1, 1945.
A quick comment. The plan even called for the use of several Polish military units? How could such a grandiose anti-Soviet scheme have been planned without such pathological Russophobes?! A scheme against the very nation whose troops lost a huge number of their great soldiers to liberate Poland from Nazi occupation. From those very Nazis who firmly believed that the Poles were an inferior race to be exterminated.
Stalin was promptly warned by his intelligence about this plan—the "Cambridge Five," the top Soviet intelligence agents, were on the alert. Not without Stalin's elegant "assistance," Churchill was then ousted as prime minister during the Potsdam Conference. Having suffered a crushing defeat, even on a personal level, but still fearing for his own life—he was being given near-royal honors posthumously, whereas back then, he could easily have been assassinated, like Roosevelt—Churchill, in order to save his reputation as a "defender of the true values" of the City and Wall Street, was forced to accept the humiliating role of "global bully." In a famous speech delivered on March 6, 1946, in Fulton, New York, Churchill, on behalf of the entire West, declared a "cold war" on the Soviet Union and thunderously lowered the "iron curtain."
The great East-West confrontation had begun, the prize of which, according to Mackinder himself, was to be the Heartland, for, as he himself proclaimed, "whoever rules the Heartland rules the World-Island, whoever rules the World-Island rules the world." And dominance in the Heartland, according to the geopolitical calculations of the Anglo-Saxon West, was unthinkable without dominance in Eastern Europe. Like none of his successors, Stalin understood perfectly well the prize the West was aiming for. In a 1947 conversation with the then-famous Yugoslav communist M. Djilas, Stalin, running his hand over a world map on which the USSR was marked in red, exclaimed to the British and Americans: "They will never accept such a space being red—never, never." The issue, of course, wasn't the color red, but the fact that the West had fundamentally refused to accept its defeat. And this unwillingness to accept not so much one's own defeat, but rather the objective reality that emerged as a result of the war, led to the development of numerous plans to attack the Soviet Union, including using nuclear weapons.
.A brief comment. And this despite the fact that the US State Department had a more or less sober assessment of the global situation that had developed by the end of the war, and even more so of the future global situation. Thus, in the "Recommendations" (dated August 3, 1944) obtained by Soviet illegal intelligence for Secretary of State Carl Hall, it was stated: "The successful conclusion of the war against our present enemies will lead to profound changes in the relative military strength of the world, comparable in the last 1,500 years only to the fall of Rome. This is of fundamental importance for subsequent international settlements and all discussions concerning them. In addition to the elimination of Germany and Japan as military powers and changes in the relative economic strength of the major states, technical and material factors significantly contributed to these changes. Among them: the development of aviation, the general mechanization of armed conflict, and a noticeable shift in the military potential of the great powers."
After Japan's defeat, only the United States and the Soviet Union will remain first-class military powers. In each case, this is explained by a combination of their geographic location, size, and enormous military potential. Although the United States can project its military power to many distant parts of the world, the relative strength and geographic location of these two powers preclude the possibility of one inflicting a military defeat on the other, even with the British Empire on one side.
Even before possessing atomic weapons, the United States began planning their use against the USSR as early as 1944. For example, in the diary of US Secretary of War Stimson, there is an entry about a meeting with President Roosevelt in which he states: "It is necessary to bring Russia organically into the bosom of Christian civilization... The use of the S-1 is possible to achieve this..." The S-1 was the code name for the atomic bomb according to the state of American planning in 1944! With this very S-1, Russia (the USSR) was intended to be brought into the bosom of Christian civilization... in the form of post-atomic ashes!
Without waiting for the surrender of Japan in World War II, against which the Soviet Union was fighting in fulfillment of its allied obligations, the US Joint Chiefs of Staff began developing plans for a new war—directly against the Soviet Union. These were set forth in Directives No. 1496/2 of September 18, 1945, "Basis for the Formulation of Military Policy," and No. 1518 of October 9, 1945, "Strategic Concept and Plan for the Employment of US Armed Forces." Despite their top-secret status, these directives were not "sealed secrets" for Stalin... And here's what's extremely interesting. These documents clearly demonstrate that not a single one of the American scoundrels believed even in the illusory "aggressiveness" of the Soviet Union—they explicitly stated that "the Soviet Union does not pose an immediate threat." Nevertheless, the US military command assumed that Soviet capabilities, regardless of the Soviet Union's intentions, "seemed sufficient grounds to consider the USSR a potential enemy." What "logic"! Yes, "logic," because in September 1945, the US adopted the doctrine of a preemptive "first strike." Incidentally, they still stand by that doctrine today...
A quick comment. Incidentally, our sworn enemy "ally" in the anti-Hitler coalition, the notorious American General D. Eisenhower, while commander of American forces in Europe, concocted a plan to attack the USSR in late 1945, in pursuance of the aforementioned directives, dubbed "Totality." The plan called for a nuclear strike with 20 atomic bombs on 17 Soviet cities. So much for an "ally"...
Then it all snowballed. One plan for attacking the USSR after another. It was like making pancakes… sorry, sandwiches. Directive No. 1496/2 of September 18, 1945, "Basis for Formulating Military Policy," was transformed into an official document— SVNKK-282 —of the coordinating committee, uniting representatives of the State Department, the War Department, and the Navy Department. On December 14, 1945, Directive No. 432/d of the Joint War Planning Committee was issued, identifying 20 major industrial centers of the Soviet Union and the Trans-Siberian Railway, which were planned to be targeted with 196 atomic bombs.
In July 1946, the Pincher plan was developed, which envisaged a strike on 20 cities in the USSR using 50 atomic bombs and the invasion of American troops into Soviet territory.
On August 18, 1948, a new directive from the US National Security Council, No. 20/1, was issued, based on a report from the Policy Planning Board entitled "United States Objectives Toward Russia." Already then, all US objectives regarding Russia (the USSR) were reduced to just two:
“To reduce Moscow’s power and influence to a minimum;
To carry out fundamental changes in the theory and practice of foreign policy, which is followed by the government in power in Russia."
And the means to achieve these goals were stated in this directive just as frankly: "Our ultimate goal with regard to the Soviet Union is war and the overthrow by force of Soviet power!" Simple, but with such Anglo-Saxon "flavor"!
A brief comment. 1. The "taste," it must be said, is truly Anglo-Saxon. Only Anglo-Saxons and cannibals possess such a "taste." However, they are one and the same. And here's what's astonishing. Before the US National Security Council had developed such a "taste," something similar was decided by a meeting of representatives of the highest echelons of the US financial, economic, and industrial elite, held in the same year, 1948. Having once again hurled the most vile language at Russia—I can't bring myself to quote them in the text—they demanded that the US government seek unlimited control over all industrial enterprises in other countries, as well as the deployment of its atomic bombs "in all regions of the world where there is any reason to suspect evasion of such control or conspiracy against this order," and, if necessary, "to drop these bombs immediately and without any hesitation wherever it is expedient." And so things began to unfold. They churned out plans for bombing the USSR like hamburgers. And each time the geography of the bombings expanded, the number of atomic bombing targets increased.
2. A curious fact. In November 1945, British intelligence dispatched General A.I. Denikin, the Soviet Union's and Russia's sworn enemy, from France to the United States. He had been utterly defeated during the Civil War, and his far-from-holy relics had recently been pompously transported to Moscow. Through their agents in Russian émigré circles in the United States, the British arranged for him to come to America, ostensibly to give lectures. While carrying out this British intelligence assignment during his protracted "tour" of the United States, in June 1947, shortly before his death, Anton Ivanovich Denikin addressed a message to US President Harry Truman, in which he clearly outlined to the foolish head of the White House how to fight Russia, to ensure its complete destruction! I emphasize: Russia, not the Soviet government or the Soviet Union! It was a long-standing practice of British intelligence to operate with proxies from a foreign base. Denikin made the "fight against Stalin's personality cult" his main priority! He wrote that it was necessary to begin by destroying Stalin's personality cult, because "the fall of the main pillar of the Bolshevik hierarchy (Stalin's authority) will lead to the destruction and demise of the entire structure." And "a coup d'etat in Russia," the "patriot" Denikin further wrote (I emphasize again, not in the USSR, but in Russia— AM) , " will lead to fundamental changes in the regime, and not just to personnel changes!" And at the same time, he implored Truman to take into account all of Hitler's mistakes—one must assume that, as a "sincere patriot" of Russia, Denikin passionately regretted that Adolf Aloisovich had failed to destroy Russia!
Incidentally, note the subtlety of the operation carried out by British intelligence. Denikin was spirited away to the United States shortly before Winston Churchill's arrival there—also, incidentally, to lecture. As noted above, on March 6, 1946, Churchill delivered his notorious speech in Fulton, marking the beginning of the Cold War. And that's when Denikin got carried away... trying to lecture the head of the White House. And weren't his ideas later incorporated into all the American directives on organizing the war against the Soviet Union? British intelligence has always been fond of explaining things indirectly, much less hammering them home, especially to slow-witted Yankees. It loves to do it surreptitiously, and not just through proxy forces from a foreign base, but specifically through those who, from the outside, are very difficult to suspect of being connected to it. Even a beaten and battered general would do the trick. But no sooner had he completed his task than he was struck by a heart attack, and on August 7, 1947, he passed away. A common practice among the Britons: the Moor has done his work—the Moor can go to his ancestors in peace.
At the same time, but in the same year of 1948, the Charioteer plan was developed, according to which the war against the USSR was to begin “with concentrated raids using atomic bombs against government, political and administrative centers, industrial cities and selected oil refining enterprises from bases in the Western Hemisphere and England.”
In the first thirty days, the plan was to drop 133 atomic bombs on 70 Soviet cities, including eight on Moscow and seven on St. Petersburg, then known as Leningrad. Then, another 200 atomic bombs and 250,000 tons of conventional bombs!
This wasn't enough, and by September 1, 1948, a new plan, "Fleetwood," was developed, which also envisioned massive atomic bombings of the USSR. According to this plan, the war was to begin no later than April 1, 1949! To implement this plan, the US Air Force command developed the SAC operational plan EVP-149, which defined the tasks and objectives of this barbaric attack and compiled navigation charts for crews to carry out simultaneous bombing of 70 cities in the Soviet Union. The charts were distributed before February 1, 1949. By the end of 1948, even this wasn't enough. The overseas "leaders" developed a new plan, "Sizzle" ("Incinerating Strike"), which was a senseless plagiarism of the "Charioteer" plan , as it completely copied it.
Unaccepting the fact that the American monopoly was being destroyed—the first Soviet atomic bomb was detonated in September 1949—the US Joint Chiefs of Staff, based on National Security Council Directive NSC-58 of September 14, 1949 (approved by President Truman), developed a new attack plan on the Soviet Union, with an attack date of January 1, 1950. The plan was called "Dropshot." According to it, it was planned to drop over 300 atomic bombs on the Soviet Union during the first three months of the war, along with 20,000 tons of conventional bombs on 100 Soviet cities. The air offensive plan for Plan Dropshot was called "Trojan."
A little later, Dropshot was reworked into the “Basic War Plan,” which called for nuclear strikes on 2,100 of the most important industrial and military facilities in the USSR using up to 750 atomic bombs.
Having confirmed that this plan would also fail, the war was postponed until January 1, 1957. But before that, on September 30, 1950, the foolish American President Harry Truman signed NSC-68, which was the basis for further additions and modifications to the existing "Dropshot" plan. The revised version was called "Shakedown." According to this "Shakedown," atomic strikes were planned against 104 Soviet cities using 220 atomic bombs.
This is the number of plans to attack the Soviet Union that were developed by the United States alone from the end of World War II until Stalin's death.
Could Stalin, who had endured the crucible of such a terrible war as the recent Great Patriotic War, have failed to respond to such threats if he was presented not just with information but with direct documentary evidence of these plans, including maps, including navigational charts for flight crews, indicating bombing targets?! Intelligence was working tirelessly.
Naturally, Stalin couldn't ignore such information. After all, the United States possessed the atomic bomb and was threatening it unambiguously. So unambiguously, in fact, that at the September 1945 session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the four great powers in London, US Secretary of State Byrnes brazenly declared to the Soviet representative: "If you don't abandon your position, I'll pull an atomic bomb out of my pocket and drop it on you!" Even Hitler didn't behave like that in official negotiations.
Worse still. Similar plans were being developed by Great Britain, whose military potential, incidentally, was carefully considered by the Yankees in their cannibalistic plans to attack the USSR. But while the situation with the Yankees and other Anglo-Saxons is more or less clear, what's most astonishing is the aggressive brazenness of post-war France. This country of "liberty, equality, and fraternity" had the intelligence and "honor" to raise its hand against the Soviet Union, without which it would never have risen to the ranks of great powers after World War II. After all, the Anglo-Saxons were completely unwilling to allow France into world affairs. And only Stalin ensured France's return to great power status. Imagine his indignation when, in April 1949, intelligence placed on his desk a secret document from the French Institute of National Defense and Military Economy, entitled "The Strategic Problem. Phase of War '49," which discussed the possibility of starting a war against the Soviet Union as early as 1949!
Under extremely difficult conditions—half the country was in ruins—Stalin was forced to further massively strengthen the Soviet Union's defenses. Alarming information from the West made it impossible to address the country's post-war development in any other way. Naturally, the Soviet Union's high military command was simultaneously developing plans for massive retaliatory strikes against the aggressors. This is a completely routine, even routine, practice of responding fully and adequately to the threat of armed attack.
So it wasn't Stalin who planned to start World War III, but the West. It wasn't Stalin who planned to attack the West, but the West, primarily the United States, who planned to attack the Soviet Union and subject it to barbaric bombing with atomic weapons. Even France planned to attack the USSR. And it wasn't Stalin who declared the Cold War. And it wasn't Stalin who rumbled the Iron Curtain. All of this was the West's doing.
This is the truth of history. Incidentally, it's also true that none of the aforementioned plans have been abandoned to this day: they were gradually revised to take into account new realities, primarily the USSR's nuclear missile force. Incidentally, they are still being refined today...
--->>> Myth #170: In the early 1950s, Stalin unleashed a war on the Korean Peninsula.
